Description
Tamim International supplies Millberry copper wire scrap: clean, bare, uncoated and unalloyed copper wire with no insulation. We sell it in bulk to international buyers who remelt or refine it. Every offer we send states the grade reference, the agreed copper content, how it will be assayed, the packaging and the delivery term, so you know exactly what you are buying before you sign.
What is Millberry copper wire scrap?
“Millberry” is a trade name for the highest grade of copper wire scrap: bare, bright, unalloyed copper wire with no coating, insulation or solder. It is a commercial term rather than a formal grade. The formal definitions come from ReMA’s ISRI Specifications, the reference most international copper scrap contracts use.
- Barley (No. 1 copper wire, “bare bright”): bare, uncoated, unalloyed copper wire.
- Berry (No. 1 copper wire): clean, untinned, uncoated, unalloyed copper wire and cable, free of brittle burnt wire.
Because the trade name alone does not fix a copper content, we name the grade reference and the minimum copper content in the contract. Our guide What is Millberry copper wire scrap? explains how to specify it.

Why buy direct from Tamim International
- No intermediaries. We buy directly from collectors and processors across East and West Africa, so there is no chain of brokers adding a margin to your price.
- Close to the port. Material is consolidated in Dar es Salaam near the port of loading, which keeps inland transport and handling short.
- No payment before inspection. You see the material and sign the contract before any money changes hands.
The price basis for each shipment is stated in the written offer.
What every offer specifies
Copper wire scrap offers are often a single line, such as “Millberry 99.99%”. That leaves too much open to dispute. Every written offer from Tamim International covers:
- Grade reference. The ReMA (ISRI) grade the material must meet.
- Copper content and assay. The minimum copper content, how samples are taken, and which laboratory or inspection company performs the assay.
- Physical condition. Wire form, and exclusions such as insulation, solder, tin coating, oil, attachments and brittle burnt wire.
- Quantity. Tonnage per container, number of containers, quantity tolerance and number of shipments.
- Packaging and loading. How the material is packed and loaded into 20 ft containers, and how weight is recorded.
- Delivery term. CIF or DDP, with the named port or destination.
- Documents. The documents released with the shipment.
Inspect the material before you pay
Copper scrap buyers are often targeted by fraudulent offers that rely on photographs and paperwork alone, and that ask for money up front. We work the other way round: you see the material first, and no payment is requested until you are satisfied and the contract is signed.
- Tell us you want to visit. Send your company details and the quantity you need.
- Agree a date. We confirm the warehouse location in Dar es Salaam and the visit date.
- Inspect the stock. Examine the wire, its form and cleanliness. You may bring or appoint an independent inspector to take samples.
- Sign the contract. Once you are satisfied, specification, quantity, price, inspection, payment and delivery terms are written into the sales contract.
- Pay and ship. Payment is made by T/T after inspection and contract signing, and the material is loaded and shipped from Dar es Salaam on the agreed CIF or DDP terms.

Frequently asked questions
Does Millberry mean 99.99% copper?
Not automatically. Millberry is a trade name for bare bright copper wire, and the name alone does not fix a copper content. We state the minimum copper content and the assay method in the contract, so the figure you are promised is the figure that is tested.
Do I have to pay before I see the material?
No. You inspect the copper wire scrap in person at our Dar es Salaam warehouse first. Payment by T/T is made only after you are satisfied and the contract is signed.
Which delivery terms do you offer?
CIF to your port of discharge, or DDP to your named destination. The term is confirmed in the offer and the contract.
How is copper wire scrap shipped?
In 20 ft containers from the Port of Dar es Salaam. The tonnage per container and the packing method are confirmed in each offer.
How is the price of copper wire scrap set?
The price basis is stated in each offer. Because we buy directly from collectors and processors and consolidate near the port, there are no broker margins built into it. Our article on how copper wire scrap is priced explains the factors behind delivered cost.
